Physiotherapy
1. How Can Physiotherapy help me?
A Physiotherapist is trained to perform a detailed musculoskeletal assessment in order to determine the cause of your discomfort or dysfunction. Once you have had your initial evaluation, the therapist will develop a treatment program designed around your specific needs. Treatment may consist of manual therapy, exercise or various modalities if they are needed. You will also be shown a home exercise program and be given information and education on the nature of your injury and how to prevent re-injury.
2. Will my health insurance cover Physiotherapy?
Most private health plans cover Physiotherapy. As every insurance plan is different, you should check with your provider to determine your personal amount of coverage. If your injury is work related then the appropriate paperwork for Workplace Health and Safety Compensation Commission will be completed and sent by your therapist. If your treatment is being covered by a lawyer, we will need your lawyer’s name and contact information.
3. What happens at my first visit?
When you first arrive you will be asked to fill out some information which includes details about your injury, health history and contact information. If you have a doctors referral for Physiotherapy, you will be asked for this as well. Following this you will be assessed by a licensed Physiotherapist which will include time for history taking and for the therapist to ask you questions specific to your injury as well as a physical exam. Your session will take approximately 45 minutes and sometimes longer, depending on the nature of your injury. Whenever possible, treatment is also begun on the day of assessment.
Massage Therapy
1. How can massage therapy help me?
A Massage Therapist is a licensed professional trained in the assessment and treatment of the soft tissues of the body. Massage promotes relaxation and good health and is also a method of rehabilitation and pain relief. Massage Therapy can also play a key role in the prevention of injury and dysfunction.
2. Will my health insurance cover massage therapy?
Most private health plans cover Physiotherapy. As every insurance plan is different,you should check with your provider to determine your personal amount of coverage. Workplace Health and Safety Compensation Commission now also covers Massage Therapy for injured workers. You will need to obtain approval from Workers Compensation prior to beginning massage therapy. If your treatment is being covered by a lawyer, we will need your lawyer’s name and contact information.
3. What happens at my first visit?
At the beginning of your first visit, you will be asked to fill out some information including details about your injury, health history and contact information. If you have a doctors referral for Physiotherapy, you will be asked to present it. Following this you will be assessed by a registered Massage Therapist including questions about your injury as well as a physical exam and massage. Length of sessions vary. 30, 45, 60 and 90 minute sessions are available.
Custom Shoe orthotics
1. How can Custom Shoe Orthotics help me?
Custom orthotics are molded to fit your individual foot to address your specific supportive or protective needs. People suffering from back, neck, knee and foot pain can benefit from Custom orthotics. You don’t have to have an injury or pain to benefit from orthotics. People of all ages and different health backgrounds can benefit, including children, athletes and diabetics.
2. Will my health insurance cover the cost of Custom Orthotics?
Most private health plans will cover Custom Orthotics. As every plan is different, you should check with your provider to determine your amount of coverage and whether or not a doctor’s referral is required for reimbursement.
3. What happens when I want to be assessed for Custom Orthotics?
Our assessment is free. All assessments and fittings are completed by one of our licensed Physiotherapists. Your assessment will include history taking about the nature of your problem, your general activity level and footwear needs. This will be followed by an examination of your feet and lower limbs in non–weight bearing, weight bearing and during the gait cycle. If it is determined that you will need orthotics, a custom mold is taken of your foot and it is from this that the orthotics are made.
Reflexology
1. How can Reflexology help me?
Reflexology promotes relaxation and alleviates tension by applying gentle pressure to the feet. Reflexology is based on the belief that treatment of the feet has a healing effect on different organs of the body.
2. How much does it cost?
Each session of Reflexology is approximately 45 minutes in duration and costs $40. Some private health insurance plans cover Reflexology. You would need to check with your provider to determine if Reflexology is covered under your plan.
3. What happens at my first visit?
Your first session will begin with a discussion of your medical history. After a foot exam, the reflexologist will individually stimulate each foot using pressure that best meets the need of each individual client. Upon completion of the session, cream is applied to the feet. The entire session will take approximately 45 minutes.
